The best part of fundraising is undoubtedly people coming together as a team to make big things happen. The "Del Mar Powerhouse 13u 2018-2019" team from California knows this too well. The team has already raised $766.81 in less than 7 months, working hard to raise funds for their upcoming tournament in Omaha.
They used FlipGive as part of their fundraising strategy and told us all about how they brought the team together to use it successfully.
Describe your team: What makes it special and unique?
Our team is a group of local kids that are trying to compete on a bigger stage. They go through a try-off process to get selected, there are some new team members on board this year, so there has been a lot of trying to come together as a team. Part of how we have done that is through our fundraising efforts to do different things. The kids have really come together to fundraise, doing outings together wearing their team stuff and sell gift cards in front of grocery stores. Fundraising is really what bonds the team together outside of the field.
Did you try any other fundraisers? Why do you use FlipGive and How did it change your fundraising experience?
We have done raffles, we went around and have gotten lots of donations from local businesses. We have heavily promoted the raffles on Instagram and Facebook. We have used the Jamba Juice gift card fundraiser and obviously, we used you guys, which has been very good for the team. FlipGive has been so simple to use for us. The kids are constantly growing, we know the equipment is something we need to buy often. So instead of checking e-commerce platforms like Amazon, we choose the option available on FlipGive. We use Baseball Monkey and Under Armour quite a bit. It’s about the same as using Amazon, except it really helps the team out. You guys have great vendors, which really helps us out to find alternatives to things we buy anyways. For Christmas, Birthdays and any other occasions: I go to FlipGive first.

What are you specifically raising money for?
We are going to Omaha in June, to a Baseball Tournament called SlumpBuster and it coincides with the College World Series.
How much does it cost for your team? How do you motivate your team to use FlipGive on a daily basis?
It’s about $3000 per player. I kept reminding people to use it, especially around important times like the Holidays. I often send emails reminding them to get all the stuff they need through FlipGive, as well as highlighting offers that are running on the site. The great thing about FlipGive is that we get to keep track of how much money each of us earns, so it is easy to motivate the ones that show that they really want to fundraise for the team.
